2010, so far

February 16, 2010 Leave a comment Go to comments

I would have loved to place micro-blogging as the alibi for my absence from here. But I fail to frequent there too. So let me just say that this blog, like most others at some point, was in a state of why and what to blog? It is still that way, and I really don’t know how long this will continue.

2010 so far has been pretty much, umm… normal. The first day of the year saw me boozing with a couple of friends in my hometown. That was a first and if signs are to be believed, the rest of the year seemed promising!

I had my DDP review shortly after mid Jan, which was not a thing to be worried about, in spite of the roaring fact that I had hardly worked. We went to Bachcha and FKD’s house for one last time. Of course we didn’t know that it would be the last time. But as always we had drinks and it was worthwhile.

Neta and Bhondu landed up in Chennai during Saarang. We all had a fun night-out at Kovalam, raising toasts Patiala pegs (delivered splendidly by Bhondu) to friendship.

If you think 2010 so far has been all about drinking, let me tell you it’s not! I bought the Chennai edition of Times Food Guide. It is a great thing to have for all foodies. For me, I just want to eat something good when the hunger pangs start. And of course I want to try new places. Hence the food guide. I wonder what took them so long to release the Chennai edition. I would have loved to lay my hands on it earlier, had it been around. Next time anyone wants advice about eat-outs or bars/pubs in Chennai or Mahabalipuram, do contact me. Of course it’s a free service.

Ishqiya was good! Arshad Warsi was too good! I still didn’t see MNIK. Though the high ratings and good reviews almost compelled me to watch it, Neta ordered otherwise.

This time almost everyone in my wing participated in the Road Race, as you must have seen in the previous post. It was sweet. And it does feel a lot easier when you run just for the fun of it. I had run the race in my first year and since then I was on a hiatus. It feels good to have finally broken free in the final year.

I hate Google Buzz. In my first year when I used to make wing newsletter by the same name, I didn’t think that four years later Google will make me hate that very word!

So far, so good? No. The bad and sad parts are there, even in 2010. The DDP for one. But let’s not dwell on them. 2010 will be about books. More fiction, less non-fiction. Reading too much of the latter is dangerous for your reading habits.Β  But before that, the remaining period in IITM will be about treats to juniors.

I hope to return with another post soon. Hope this blog recovers soon. πŸ™‚

Those who are employed for almost a year should not expect treats. πŸ™‚
